Day 3 – 221.8 lb, 100.8 kg

Got through Day 2. No great feelings of hunger. Lots of black coffee got me through. I have a couple of cups of regular instant coffee in the morning and then switch to decaf instant coffee for the rest of the day.

Made up a mixture of snake juice with some lemon juice. Pretty awful stuff. Tried carbonating it but that didn’t make it much better. I think I need to dilute it more.

I’ve had thoughts of ending the fast this evening, after I reach the 3 day/72 hour mark. We’ll see. What might keep me going is the thought of an easy eight hours added to that record by going to sleep! I hope to be below 100 kg tomorrow.

Had the start of a cramp in my foot last night but luckily it went away on its own. I’m prone to cramps so this was a worry going into fasting. Maybe the snake juice and magnesium supplement is doing its job for me!

Good to see the numbers on the scale coming down every morning. This effort hasn’t been in vain! Of course a lot of the weight loss may be just water loss. Seeing the numbers go down so much is still motivating though.

Other less publicised benefits of fasting:

  • Less washing up! I only wash my glass when fasting.
  • Cheaper groceries! I went to the supermarket and only purchased Lite Salt (for potassium).

Day 1 – 226.8 lb, 103.1 kg

Survived Day 1. Didn’t feel hungry.

Drank a lot of black, instant coffee (no sweetener). Drank lots of water (how much?).

No alcohol.

Calves feeling a bit tight, might all be in my head.

Feeling like I can do 7 days right now.

Tried water with a teaspoon of salt and a few drops of lemon juice. Not too bad! Probably nicer cold and carbonated.

Need to make up some “snake juice”. Will add lemon juice to help prevent kidney stones and try carbonating it using a Sodastream.

Recipe I found for “snake juice” on a Reddit post in fasting sub-reddit.

Water=2L / 67.6 oz
Potassium chloride =1 tsp (No Salt)
Sodium Bicarbonate = 1 tsp (Baking Soda)
Sodium chloride = 1/2 tsp (Himalayan Pink Salt)
Magnesium Sulphate = 1/2 tsp (Food Grade Epsom Salts)
